On the afternoon of 4th May, the passionate sound of singing was loud and clear in Anqing Foreign Language School’s Lecture Hall. So as to commemorate the 98th anniversary of youthful students’ May 4th Patriotic Movement, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Section of the east campus held the hook-on singing competition for students from Grades 7 and 8 with the theme of ‘Greet May 4th Movement--growing up with revolutionary songs’.
To start with, the grand event was initiated by the History Teaching& Research Group with full participation of the 7th and 8th grade students. On the one hand, before the contest, each head teacher, history teacher and music teacher paid high attention to the event. On the other hand, students took an active part, rehearsed and meticulously prepared for it. Therefore, the upbeat and motivating red melodies vocalized both the deep blessings for our motherland and the marvelous vision for the future.
To be specific, students’ enthusiasm was aroused by the enduring revolutionary songs, such as ‘My Motherland’, ‘Ode to the Motherland’, ‘Follow the Good Example of Lei Feng’ in addition to ‘Union is Strength’, which all struck a strong nerve.
Evidently, the whole contest was quite intense, creating one climax after another. After the fierce competition, the first prize was awarded to Class 2, Grade 7 and Class 3, Grade 7. Afterwards, Principal Assistant& Junior High Director Lu Dan made brilliant comments, affirmed students’ excellent performance and called upon them to learn from the revolutionary martyrs, carry forward the spirits of May 4th Movement, keep the mission in mind and demonstrate the elegant demeanor of contemporary middle school students as well as their high-spirited and enterprising mental outlook.
In a nutshell, not only did this spectacular event enrich students’ campus life, but also offered them patriotism education, realizing the spiritual sublimation of patriotic enthusiasm.
